The Black Badge Cullinan ‘Blue Shadow’ Private Collection has been revealed by Rolls-Royce. This exceptional work of art explores the captivating appeal and mystery of space.
The Kármán Line, the dividing line between Earth’s atmosphere and space located 62 miles above the surface, was an inspiration for Rolls-Royce’s designers. This intangible frontier served as the basis for the creation of an exceptional work of art. In this context, the interface between the Earth’s atmosphere and outer space is characterized by a surreal quality, where the vivid blue hue of our planet’s skies gradually transitions into the deep obscurity of the universe beyond.
The interplay between certain elements results in the creation of a dark-blue realm that is both intense and mesmerizing. This realm is enigmatic and serves as a sanctuary that only appeals to those with an adventurous spirit. The ideal manifestation of Blue Shadow is found in this serene and captivating environment.
The ‘Blue Shadow’ variant showcases an exterior paint in ‘Stardust Blue’ that accurately reflects the captivating shade of the upper atmosphere of the Earth. The satin-tinted grille surround and aero bumper insert sets draw inspiration from spacecraft materials. These sets pay homage to the thermal tiles that protect Space Shuttles during atmospheric re-entry.
The Spirit of Ecstasy emblem is manufactured with precision using 3D printing methods in titanium. The emblem is then coated with a subtle blue-tinted lacquer that accentuates its pearlescent quality and emphasizes the texture of the titanium. The Spirit of Ecstasy base is decorated with engravings of the Black Badge infinity logo and the name ‘Blue Shadow’ from the Private Collection, which are filled with Charles Blue. Blue Shadow’s wheels are coated with a translucent lacquer that gives them a subtle darkened appearance, enhancing the overall exterior aesthetic.
The bespoke vehicle’s fascia and door panels are designed to showcase a captivating portrayal of a phenomenon through a meticulous painting process. The painting process is done with great attention to detail, resulting in a unique and visually appealing design. The painted surface consists of six layers, incorporating five distinct variations of blue and a dark black tone, which are interwoven to produce a captivating and visually striking three-dimensional appearance.
A clear-coat layer is applied to enhance the depth and luster of the material. This layer contains precise amounts of blue and clear glass particles, which are measured with meticulous accuracy at exactly 0.05%. The fascia of the vehicle is equipped with a unique Bespoke clock that is only available in the Private Collection. The clock features light blue anodized details and ‘Blue Shadow’ engraving, which adds to the overall harmony of the vehicle’s design.
The latest iteration of the Starlight Headliner by Rolls-Royce is now available, named “Blue Shadow”. This enhancement elevates the interior of the luxury vehicle to a superior level. The headliner is adorned with a detailed embroidery of the Moon, which is surrounded by a pattern of stars resembling a constellation. This design creates an ambiance reminiscent of outer space. A three-dimensional representation of the Moon’s surface has been created using five distinct colored threads and a range of techniques. This has resulted in a distinctive texture that accurately depicts the various craters present on the Moon’s surface. The embroidery is comprised of 250,000 individual stitches and requires a total of two days to finish. The Starlight Headliner comprises a total of 1,183 stars, which are meticulously placed by hand through perforated holes in the leather canvas. Among these stars, 799 are white and 384 are blue. The headliner’s ambiance is enhanced by the twinkling of fiber-optic stars.
The front and rear seats feature a perforated design that draws inspiration from the Earth’s appearance as seen from space. The leather is perforated with small holes to create a pattern that resembles constantly shifting clouds over land masses and bodies of water. The perforations are created in two distinct sizes. The smaller perforations indicate land, whereas the slightly larger ones signify the sea. The unperforated areas represent clouds. The seat is composed of more than 75,000 perforations that are individually placed. The design process for the pattern involved five trials and lasted for two weeks to attain the desired quality. The outcome is a consistent and uniform visual presentation across all four seats, achieved through a flawless integration of the design elements.
The picnic tables have a perforation pattern that extends to their backs. When lowered, the tables feature a Piano Black veneer finish with a glass sparkle effect that resembles the view into the depths of space. Furthermore, every table is equipped with the collection’s theme text, which is embedded in polished aluminum underneath the top lacquer layer. This accentuates the remarkable viewpoint and capacity to reach for the stars that the Blue Shadow encounter provides.
A collection of unique accessories has been created by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective to enhance the Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow. One of the available options is an indoor car cover that features the same pattern as the seats, adding a unique and exclusive element to the vehicle. A luggage set is available for travelers that conforms to the color scheme of the Private Collection. Furthermore, customers are provided with the alternative to request a precise 1:8 scale duplicate of their life-size Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow.
The replica is equipped with operational exterior and interior lights, coach doors that can be opened and closed, and an interior that accurately replicates all the elements present in the Collection, such as the Bespoke Illuminated Collection Treadplates.
