Michael Eisner Selling $195M Malibu Home

Former Disney CEO and Chairman Michael Eisner has dropped the price of his waterfront mansion in Southern California to $195 million and put it up for sale this spring. Eisner first listed the property for $225 million in the spring of 2017.

The home is truly one of Malibu’s most spectacular. About forty years ago, Eisner began his trip at the site, and he has since accumulated neighboring properties as they became available. Approximately five acres of land are currently part of the estate, which is located between Nicholas Canyon and Lachusa Canyon.

There are other houses on the site, including the main house and at least two guesthouses that are spaced wisely apart from one another. The main house is a 25,000 square foot pastiche of Mediterranean elements built by Robert A.M. Stern (the materials list includes recovered clay roof tiles transported from the Old Country).

The guesthouses each have their own history and vibe. The hexagonal cupola foyer and the beach home that looks like it was plucked straight out of the 1930s on Cape Cod are two of the highlights of the post-and-beam architecture. The total number of sleeping quarters and bathrooms on the premises is 16.

The single-purpose specialized buildings, such as the movie theater, are dispersed among the residential units; an elevator provides direct access from the bluff to the beach for surfers and sunbathers.
