Rolls-Royce creates a custom-made representation of peace and calm in the legendary region of Arcadia. Introducing the Arcadia Droptail, a sleek and simple design that celebrates the essence of form. The tranquil refuge is named after the ancient Greek domain known for its breathtaking natural beauty, and it also pays homage to meticulousness and the sense of touch.
In order to capture this elusive essence, designers sought inspiration from tropical modernism, biomimetic architecture, and the uplifting essence of the original Droptail sketch. The coachwork is covered in a quiet robe that has two tones, white mixed with shiny aluminum. This is contrasted by the sharp, metallic silver facets. The bodywork is sculpted in a way that creates a negative impression, with dramatic lines that flow smoothly. The sail cowls are curved inward, resembling the jib of a yacht.
Inside, the dominant material is Santos wood, characterized by its interlocking grain and open pores, which make it susceptible to tears and checks. The wooden rear deck exhibits a mathematically precise angle. The interior is embellished with a grand total of 233 pieces, with 76 of them specifically located on the rear. These pieces have been coated with lacquer to ensure their durability in the face of extreme conditions worldwide.
The leathers softly murmur in hues of ash and light brown, while the large shawl panel brings together all Droptails in perfect mirrored balance. The clockface, which is the most intricate ever created, took five months to assemble and two years to develop. The raw metal shines with intricate geometric guilloché patterns, with markers that are only a fraction of a millimeter in size. Rigorously tested to meet and exceed the highest standards of precision in watchmaking.
The client utilized advanced virtual reality technology to preview the design globally before construction, allowing for an immersive experience in different locations. The project took four years to complete, focusing on refining a personal aesthetic in every aspect, including furnishings and cuisine.
